CMHA Kelowna Mental Health Week: May 5-11

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Kelowna is proud to host a week of engaging and impactful activities as part of Mental Health Week from May 5-11, inviting the community to join the movement of #UnmaskingMentalHealth.
CMHA Kelowna Mental Health Week: May 5-11

This year’s theme, Unmasking Mental Health, encourages open and honest conversations about mental wellbeing, challenging the stigma that often keeps mental health struggles hidden. CMHA Kelowna is bringing this message to life with events that create space for connection, support, and education.

Mental Health Week Activities:

·       Tuesday, May 6 – Mental Health Photo Frame in the Park

Visit City Park on Tuesday where CMHA Kelowna will set up a Photo frame for community members to stop by, snap a photo, and share their support for mental health initiatives using #UnmaskingMentalHealth. Included will also be some fun literal “masks” on hand for photos, courtesy of Calowna Costumes.

·       Wednesday, May 7 – Foundry Kelowna Community BBQ

Foundry Kelowna is hosting a free community BBQ! Join us, from 11:30am – 2:00pm for food and conversation about youth mental health and the supports and programs available.

·       Wednesday, May 7 – Coffee Cup Stickers at Pulp Fiction Coffee House

(1598 Pandosy St.)

Grab a coffee and learn more about ways to support your mental health. CMHA Kelowna, operators of Foundry Kelowna are partnering with Pulp Fiction Coffee House to share mental health information with QR stickers on their coffee cups with mental health resources.

·       Thursday, May 8 – MBSS Walk for Mental Health

Mount Boucherie Secondary School is taking steps for change with their annual Walk for Mental Health. Students, staff, and the community will be walking together to raise awareness for youth mental health and the programs and services available to those who are affected. “Unmasking Mental Health is about creating brave spaces to show up authentically, to share stories, and to listen with compassion,” says CMHA Kelowna CEO Mike Gawliuk. “Mental Health Week is an opportunity for our community to come together and be part of the movement that supports the wellbeing of others.”
